Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps people understand and process emotion in ways that create more secure connection, clearer communication, and lasting change.

Virtual across NY.
You appear to have it all together, yet internally feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. The work I do with individuals and couples focuses on breaking unhelpful patterns, strengthening communication, and creating meaningful, lasting change. For those who are used to showing up for others and holding everything together, our sessions offer a space to better understand what's underneath - and begin shifting it.
Donny works best with people who are tired of knowing something needs to change but can't figure out why they keep ending up in the same place. Whether that's a relationship dynamic that repeats across different partners, an anxiety that holds steady no matter how much life improves, or a quiet sense of disconnection from a life that looks fine on paper: his work is about getting underneath that.
His style is direct without being pushy. He'll name what he notices early, and he'll ask the questions that most people have been carefully avoiding. Clients often describe the first few sessions as feeling like someone finally said the thing out loud, and the relief that comes with that.
He sees individuals navigating anxiety, attachment wounds, and family patterns, and couples who want to break out of the same argument or the same silence. A lot of the people he works with are used to being the capable, high-functioning one, the person other people lean on, and haven't had much space to figure out what's actually going on for them.
Donny is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT-LP) trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and person-centered work. He sees clients virtually across NY.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps people understand and process emotion in ways that create more secure connection, clearer communication, and lasting change.
Psychodynamic work helps clients see how earlier experiences and unconscious patterns still shape the way they move through relationships today.
The Gottman Method gives couples concrete tools for repairing conflict, deepening friendship, and building the kind of trust that makes hard conversations possible.
Person-centered therapy creates a grounded, collaborative space where clients can speak honestly, feel understood, and move toward change without losing their own voice.
